About The Carbon Shift
This publication exists to track what’s really happening in the world of low-carbon fuels, clean energy infrastructure, hydrogen hubs, and the broader energy transition. It was born out of frustration: with greenwashed promises, vague narratives, and the growing gap between sustainability rhetoric and implementation reality.
The Carbon Shift isn’t here to sell hype. It’s here to follow the data, pressure-test solutions, and uncover what actually works.
We cover clean fuels like hydrogen, methanol, and biofuels—not just the technologies, but also the policies, economics, carbon intensity, and supply chains behind them. We dive into the trade-offs. The bottlenecks. The blind spots. From port infrastructure and power generation to carbon removal and AI’s energy footprint, nothing is off-limits—as long as it’s grounded in facts and impact.
If you're tired of oversimplified solutions and interested in the real drivers behind sustainable change, you’re in the right place.
What You’ll Find Here
This platform is designed for professionals, policymakers, technologists, and sustainability thinkers who care about real-world progress—not just theory. You’ll find:
- Breakdowns of emerging clean fuel pathways (green hydrogen, renewable methanol, SAF, etc.)
- Policy analysis on LCFS, IRA, EU Fit for 55, IMO, and other climate levers
- Carbon intensity evaluations, lifecycle comparisons, and techno-economic modeling
- Editorial takes that challenge mainstream narratives and bring overlooked truths to light
- Visual explainers and infographics designed to clarify complex systems
If it affects emissions, costs, or real deployment at scale, it belongs here.
About Eliseo
Eliseo Curcio is a chemical engineer, clean fuels strategist, and recognized expert in decarbonization with more than 11 years of experience across the aviation, marine, industrial, and power sectors. His work spans technology development, policy advisory, economic modeling, and project execution—focused on the deployment of real-world solutions to accelerate the low-carbon transition.
Eliseo currently serves as Senior Project Manager for Clean Fuels at NYSERDA, where he creates initiatives involving hydrogen infrastructure, renewable fuels, and firm capacity. He plays a key role in designing and managing state-funded projects, advising on technical and economic feasibility, and ensuring alignment with both New York’s climate goals and federal funding programs.
Before joining NYSERDA, Eliseo held leadership roles at Refinery Automation Institute (RAI), where he served as Vice President and CFO. There, he advised over 400 companies globally, helping optimize blending systems, integrate biofuels, and reduce carbon intensity across complex refining and fuel supply chains. He also launched RAI’s clean energy division, driving technical innovation in lifecycle analysis and carbon management.
Eliseo directed Blend Tiger, expert energy advisory firm and modeling lab that supports clean energy innovation and investment. Over his career, he has developed more than 500 proprietary models—including carbon intensity calculators, lifecycle emissions estimators, fuel switching optimizers, and investment screening tools used by agencies, investors, and project developers.
He is the author of 51 peer-reviewed publications and holds over 5 patents related to fuel systems, carbon accounting, and low-emission energy pathways. His technical and policy work has influenced infrastructure plans, climate strategies, and clean fuel projects in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe.
He launched The Carbon Shift to bring his data-driven, systems-level perspective into public conversation—cutting through noise and offering clear, critical insights into what technologies and policies actually deliver emissions reductions at scale.
